End February and March

31März2019

Hallo meine Lieben!

Hello my dears!

With the end of february a slight feeling of spring came up in Sweden. The first sun made it really hard for me to concentrate on my work so I took it with me to the cafe in the botanic garden. The first crocusses and Colchicum started flowering already - beautiful!

After I handed in a first draft of my thesis to my supervisors, I took a little creative break of writing and went to France with my family. There was a lot of sun and even more cold wind. It felt good to get some distance and be with the family for a while. On a trip to Nizza I even saw Nina again :).

Afterwards I went on a short trip to Scottland, where I visited a schoolfriend of mine in Glasgow. I strolled around the city partly alone, partly with Marc and even got to know some of his colleges. The kind of negative reputation of an industrial city Glasgow has is not longer fair. The city has indeed some very nice buildings (for example the university) and also some nice parks. Of course I visited the botanic garden - it is always a nice place to be to avoid the big-city-life. From Glasgow I took the bus back to Edinburgh, where I met my kindergardenfriend Franzi, to travel the North of Scottland for a few days. In Edinburgh I spend quite some time in the botanic garden -which is much bigger than the one in Glasgow - until Franzi arrived. Franzi and I sadly only had a few days but spend them well and tried to see as much of the coast as possible. We travelled to the north along the eastcoast and back south along the west. On our way we spend the nights in very nice (perfectly chosen) small, private Bed and Breakfasts, that mostly were run by families. The hosts were all realy nice and tried to make us as comfortable as possible. I was flashed by the friendlyness of the people, as I am not used to that from either Sweden or Germany. One can not say that people in Sweden are inpolite - one always gets treated politely! But there is a big difference between the swedish politeness and the scottish hospitallity. At least as far as I can say that or personally experienced that. The impression can very well be influenced by me spending most of my time in bigger cities here in Sweden, while we stayed mostly in very small villages in Scottland (if not even in the total outback).

All in all I really enjoyed my break! Now I am back in Sweden and will get back to work. I am in the last phase of my masters and really exited what else is waiting for me this year! Sadly many of my friends here are under time pressure now, because they have to deliver there thesis in time, so the mood is a little tense. I am greatful for every minute I can spend with others in the sun, that finally gets more intense and am super happy about the light :)

Ganz viel Sonne schickt euch

Hanna

A lot of sun to all of you
